From February 2025, Power Platform developers will be able to utilize a new Resco PCF control enabling hierarchy management within the platform. This component, a frequent request from the community, will provide a replacement for the soon-to-be removed feature from Microsoft.
The upcoming PCF control from Resco will make it easier for users to see and work with data that has a parent-child relationship. Common users include asset managers, project and task managers, and sales specialists.
Compared to the deprecated hierarchy control from Microsoft, Resco’s new component will also provide additional capabilities with support for a second type of table. It will effectively function as a mapping feature, not just a singular hierarchy.
Interested users can now reach out to Resco’s team to consult their feature needs or get an early overview of the component. Hierarchy control from Resco is scheduled to be generally available in February 2025. Microsoft’s hierarchy control feature was deprecated in October 2024 and is due to be removed from the platform in October 2025.
What does it do
Resco’s custom PCF control will enable users to organize and explore connected data in a compact way. It will provide a visual representation of data in two views. Users will be able to navigate data through a tree view on the left side, while a graph visually presenting the levels and structure of the selected item will be available on the right.

Developers can implement the hierarchy control into Power Apps to:
- Enable users to see data structure visually in a neat tree or chart.
- Navigate through the levels (e.g., click on a product to see its individual parts).
- Make it easier to interact with the data, such as opening details about a contact or product or making edits.
The component will work with the platform’s Quick View Form, allowing it to bind and connect data so it can be correctly represented within users’ views.
The hierarchy component will complement Resco’s library of PCF controls, which are available for free for the first three months. Interested users are encouraged to reach out to consult their hierarchy control-related requests or to get an overview of the component.
